White Lung on CXR

10 Feb 2015

A 55 year old male with history of metastatic lung cancer presented to the A&E for increasing breathlessness for three days.

He was sitting up, anxious and in respiratory distress.

BP 125/64mmHg, SpO2: 95% on NRM, HR 118, RR 19.

The portable CXR was quite concerning – almost the entire right lung is white out. Would you consider a palliative pleural tap in this case?
